Martina Spernbauer, Head of the Governance Team at the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, stated: “Justice reform is an indispensable step on Moldova’s path towards EU accession. Through Chapter 23, the EU emphasises the importance of the independence, integrity, and efficiency of the justice system. The European Union is committed to supporting Moldova in this critical phase of institutional reform. The implementation period of the #Justice4Moldova project is nearing its end, with a closing event planned for early July. I would like to thank the IPRE team for their hard work and dedication, Moldova’s justice institutions for their openness and commitment, our civil society partners for their constructive involvement in driving the reform forward, and the Soros Foundation Moldova for their generous financial contribution. The European Union remains dedicated to accompanying Moldova along its European path. We are proud to say that our support extends beyond formal institutions and frameworks – we place great importance on civil society as a key contributor to ensuring accountability, transparency, and meaningful dialogue.”
Valerii Voleanschi, Programme Officer at the Soros Foundation Moldova, stated: “Since its founding, the Soros Foundation Moldova has been committed to supporting the rule of law and democratic values. The project implemented by IPRE, with our support and that of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, pursues the same objective and is fully aligned with both the values promoted by the Foundation and Moldova’s aspiration to join the European family. We thank our partners for the successful implementation of the proposed objectives and wish them every success in their future activities.”
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to strengthening the role of civil society and the media in consolidating the independence, integrity, efficiency, and accountability of the justice system in the Republic of Moldova. Further details about the project are available here.
