#CAPACITY4EU: Exchange visit to Moldova for German experts on European Integration
The Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), in collaboration with the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS) and the Berlin-based Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP) organized a study visit from December 9–12, 2024, for a group of researchers, political analysts, and civil society representatives from Germany.
The purpose of the visit was to provide participants with a firsthand perspective on the reforms implemented as part of Moldova’s Europeanization process and the current political situation, shaped by the outcomes of the presidential elections and the context of the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2025.
During the visit, several meetings were organized with representatives of the Government, Parliament, local public authorities, and civil society representatives from the Cahul district. The knowledge gained during the visit will contribute to a more informed social and political discourse about Moldova in Germany.
On the first day, participants met with representatives of the Parliament, Presidency of Moldova, Ministry of Energy, and State Chancellery. In addition to discussions with members of the ruling party, the study visit also included a meeting with representatives from several pro-European opposition parties.
On the second day, following a meeting with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the delegation visited Copceac and Cahul, where they engaged in discussions with local public authorities, regional experts, and civil society representatives.
The third day began with a #CAPACITY4EU exchange lab, where participants shared opinions and perspectives with Moldovan civil society representatives on topics such as EU integration, disinformation, foreign policy, and the country’s reintegration efforts.
The study visit was organized as part of the #CAPACITY4EU – Civil Society for EU Integration project. The project is implemented by the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) in partnership with the Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP) in Berlin and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS). The project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
