IOM Moldova and IPRE organized the first training sessions on the role of civil society organizations in home affairs reforms

Between 27–29 January 2026, the first training sessions on “Strengthening Civil Society Organizations’ Engagement in Home Affairs Reforms and the EU Accession Process” took place, organized by IOM Moldova in partnership with IPRE, within a project co-financed by the European Union.

 29 participants from 19 international and Moldovan civil society organizations, together with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, gathered both in person and on-line to capitalize on the CSOs’ expertise in inclusive policymaking and proximity to communities, and ultimately contribute to promoting transparency, ensuring accountability, and strengthening public trust.

The training aims at strengthening coordination and joint efforts in drafting project proposals and monitoring security and migration policies in line with EU human rights and rule-of-law standards, particularly within the negotiation framework of Chapter 24: Justice, Freedom and Security.

The training kick-off was graced by the opening remarks of Andrei Cecoltan, Deputy State Secretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sophie Dagand, Programme Manager for Security and Migration at the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, and Ester Ruiz Azua, Chief of Mission of IOM Moldova and Iulian Groza, Executive Director of #IPRE.
