IPRE organized an advocacy visit to Brussels for a group of civil society representatives from Moldova

Between 9-12 June 2025, the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) organized an advocacy visit to Brussels for a group of civil society representatives from Moldova.

During the visit, representatives of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), Promo-LEX Association, Legal Resources Center from Moldova (CRJM), Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT), Center for Independent Journalism (CJI), Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova (CALM) and the Watchdog.md community participated at the roundtable discussion “Thinking back, looking ahead: how to advance Moldova’s EU accession process?”, hosted by the Wilfried Martens Center for European Studies. During the roundtable discussion, the participants discussed about the key developments and perspectives for accelerating Moldova’s EU accession negotiations, democratic stability and fight against hybrid threats in context of the upcoming parliamentary elections, as well as the EU financial and technical assistance for empowering Moldova’s resilience and economic growth.

Furthermore, during the visit, the experts from Moldova had a series of meetings with representatives of European institutions, members of the European Parliament and think-tanks from Brussels. Among the interlocutors were Călin Ungur, Cabinet Expert, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, Allan Jones, Head of the Unit for Moldova within the Directorate-General for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy (DG ENEST), Tanel Tang, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, Petras Austrivicius, Member of the European Parliament and Dumitru Fornea, Member of the Economic and Social Committee (EESC). The topics discussed during the meetings were related to the current stage of implementation of the main reforms concerning the EU accession process, conditions and perequisites for the proper organization of free and fair parliamentary elections, but also the role of civil society and local authorities in advancing Moldova’s European path.

The advocacy visit was organized by IPRE, with the support of the European Union  and German Marshall Fund al SUA – Transatlantic Foundation (GMF-TF), within the project “Advancing Moldova’s EU accession efforts through advocacy efforts”.
