“NATO Insider” workshop for journalists, organized in the context of the NATO Summit in Washington (9-11 July 2024)
The Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), in partnership with the NATO Liaison Office in the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and GIZ, organized, on Friday, June 28, 2024, the “NATO Insider” workshop, which brought together journalists and editors from several media offices in Chisinau and at the local level.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for the participants to deepen their knowledge related to the NATO – Republic of Moldova partnership and to learn from the first source, namely the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Valeriu Mija and the NATO DCBI coordinator for the Republic of Moldova, Teodora Popescu, about the areas of bilateral cooperation between NATO and the Republic of Moldova, from the military to cross-cutting fields, such as strategic communication or cyber security.
Also, Alina Coca, deputy director of media operations at the NATO Headquarters, spoke about one of the most important political events of the year – the NATO Summit in Washington. The dialogue focused on the key topics that will determine the agenda of the Summit, as well as on the decisions expected from the NATO leaders.
At the end of the workshop, the journalists exchanged opinions on the best ways to report on the NATO Summit and its implications for European security with the editor-in-chief of the media platform caleaeuropeana.ro, Robert Lupitu, and the mass-media and communication expert, Sorina Ștefărță.
