Empowering Moldovan Officials for EU Accession Negotiations through a Training initiative at the College of Europe in Natolin implemented in partnership with IPRE

Republic of Moldova is an EU candidate country since 23 June 2022, following the submission of its request for membership in the European Union on 3 March 2022. Today, Moldova on its way to opening accession negotiations with the EU, after a positive decision of the European Council on 14th December 2023.

In light of these developments, the College of Europe in Natolin is proud to announce a dedicated and tailored training project designed to bolster the skills of Moldovan officials responsible for coordinating the development of Moldova’s positions within negotiating clusters. The program will also be open for Moldovan civil society experts that will have their dedicated role of participating in the EU accession process.

The Training on Accession Negotiations at the College of Europe in Natolin program is implemented with the Institute for European Policies and Reforms, in cooperation with the Bureau for European Integration in the Government of Moldova.

The objective of the training program is to enhance the skills of Moldovan officials responsible for coordinating the development of Moldova’s positions within negotiating clusters in preparation for EU accession negotiations. It will focus on explaining the European Commission’s negotiating methodology, practical aspects of preparations for accession negotiations, domestic cooperation between stakeholders. The program agenda features e-learnings and live sessions with experts from current EU member states and countries already negotiating their accession who will share insights into their practical experience and lessons learned during negotiations.

The opening of the program took place on 4 April 2024, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Cristina Gherasimov, Vice Rector of the College of Europe, Ewa Ośniecka-Tamecka, Executive Director of IPRE, Iulian Groza, and the Head of Bureau for European Integration BIE, Ghenadie Marian.
