#NEXT4EU: IPRE implemented an exchange visit for 9 civil society representatives from Germany

18 December 2023

The Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), in partnership with the Institut für Europäische Politik and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives – IPIS, implemented a study visit for a group of researchers, political analysts, civil society representatives and journalists from Germany on December 10-14, 2023

The purpose of the visit was to provide an insight into Moldova’s reform processes aimed at Moldova’s integration into the EU and the country’s political situation, which is influenced by the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine and Russia’s attempts to destabilize the country.

In the first day of the visit, the participants had a series of meetings with representatives of the Parliament and Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Bureau for Reintegration Policies. At the same time, besides meetings with representatives of government, the study visit also included a meeting of opposition representatives.

In the second day of the visit, after a meeting at the Agency for Interethnic Relations, guests from Germany went to Comrat, where they met and discussed with representatives of local public authorities and the People’s Assembly of ATU Gagauzia, as well as experts from the region, including representatives of civil society.

The third day started with the NEXT4EU exchange lab.  The participants had the opportunity to engage in dialogue with local CSOs, which allowed for a transfer of ideas in the areas of EU integration, disinformation, foreign policy and reintegration.

The visit concluded with meetings at the EU delegation and EU Partnership Mission in Moldova. These increased the understanding of the role of EU institutions and policies in the local context.

The study visit took place within the project “#NEXT4EU – Young generation for EU integration of the Republic of Moldova “, which is supported by the Federal Foreign Ministry of Germany in the framework of its civil society cooperation programme.
