#NEXT4EU: Over 65 young people trained in public policies, communication and disinformation in EU-Moldova relations

30 November 2023

The Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), in partnership with the Berlin Institut für Europäische Politik (IEP) and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS), completed a cycle of trainings for young people from regions within the project “#NEXT4EU – Youth for the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the EU”.

The events took place during October-November 2023 and were attended by about 65 young people from Cimislia, Balti, Soroca and Comrat.

During the workshops, young people had the opportunity to learn more about national and local public policies, the role of authorities in their development and implementation, the role of civil society organizations, the institutional framework of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, the importance of the Association Agreement, including European Union policies and projects implemented in different regions of the country. One of the most exciting topics for young people was the discussion on the steps that the Republic of Moldova is going to take to advance in the negotiation process with the European Union.

In the second part of the event, young people were informed about the role of communication and public relations within the EU, disinformation campaigns, what are the consequences of spreading disinformation, which are the most common forms and types of disinformation, propaganda and fake news about the EU, but also got acquainted with practical examples of the latest trends in disinformation and description of the main distribution channels.

The evaluation forms showed that participants increased their knowledge about the Europeanisation process and learned more about how young people can get involved in this process at local level.

The trainings were organized by IPRE, in cooperation with the Institut für Europäische Politik in Berlin and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives – IPIS, within the project “#NEXT4EU – Young Generation for EU Integration in Moldova”, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Germany (Auswärtiges Amt).
