Between 2023 and 2026, IPRE will contribute to the consolidation of public policies in the higher education sector

31 January 2023

On January 30, 2023, IPRE’s Deputy Director, Mihai Mogîldea, took part in the Kick-off Meeting of the project “Consolidation of public policies in the higher education sector (HESPRI)”,  which took place in Iași, Romania. The project is implemented by the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, in partnership with 13 universities and partner organizations from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Chile, Japan and Kuwait.

HESPRI aims to identify and offer innovative solutions meant to strengthen public policies and improve the competitiveness of the higher education sector, taking into considerations the two forces which shaped the current world of higher education – the humanistic traditions of university governance and the neoliberal reforms of the past thirty years.

Based on an international and culturally diverse consortium  of 14 universities and partner organizations from 3 continents, including IPRE, HESPRI intends to provide evidence-based recommendations for governments, policymakers, and universities, to adjust various components of higher education policies in response to current challenges.

During the implementation period, IPRE’s experts will be engaged in 22 mobilities to partner universities and organisations, including: Alexandru Ioan Cuza University Iasi, University of Strasbourg, Universita degli Studi di Torino, Justus-Liebig-Universitaet Giessen, Sorbonne Universite, Kokuritsu Daigaku Hojin Okayama Daigaku (Japan), Doshisha University (Japan), The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (Kuwait), and Universidad Andres Bello (Chile). Moreover, in 2024 and 2025, two workshops addressing the digitalisation of the higher education system will be held in Chisinau by IPRE, in cooperation with other project partners.

“Elevating Higher Education public policies” (HESPRI) is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, under Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) – Staff Exchanges, the call HORIZON-MSCA-2021-SE-01.
