#reforMD: Young people from the city of Fălești learned more about the tools to combat disinformation

The Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), in partnership with the Institut für Europäische Politik from Berlin (IEP) and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS), organized on Friday, November 11, 2022, the third local workshop on combating disinformation within the project “reforMD – Resilience against disinformation in the Republic of Moldova”.

The event was organized together with the Regional Youth Council from Fălești. During the workshop, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about the role of authorities, technology companies, civil society organizations and citizens in combating disinformation, about ways to recognize and combat disinformation campaigns, as well as practical tools that can be used to identify fakes.

In the second part of the event, the young people discussed the main causes of vulnerability to disinformation campaigns in the Republic of Moldova, the consequences of the spread of disinformation, the most common forms and types of disinformation, propaganda and fake news, but also got to know practical examples of the latest disinformation trends and description of the main distribution channels.

At the end of the event, the participants learned about the #reforMD 2022 Fellowship Program, which will finance small-scale projects on combating disinformation at the local level.

The third disinformation lab was facilitated by IPRE, within the project “reforMD – Resilience against disinformation in the Republic of Moldova”, implemented in partnership with the Institut für Europäische Politik from Berlin (IEP) and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS) and with the support of the Civil Society Cooperation Program of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
