Between 13 – 16 of June 2022, the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) and the Foundation Friedrich Ebert Moldova, in partnership with the Legal Resources Centre from Moldova (CRJM), Expert-Grup and the Soros Foundation-Moldova, organized an advocacy visit to  Hague, Brussels and Berlin. The purpose of the advocacy visit was to support the granting of EU’s candidate status for Moldova.

During the visit to Hague, experts from IPRE, CRJM and Expert-Grup had a meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Afterwards, they participated in a roundtable discussion organized by the Clingendael Institute in Hague.

In Brussels, the Moldovan experts held a number of meetings with representatives of European Commission (DG NEAR) and European External Action Service (EEAS). Our colleagues also participated in a working session hosted by the Institute for European Policy for an Open Society (OSEPI) and Romania’s Permanent Representation to the EU, but also at a roundtable discussion organized by Centre for European Policy Studies.

In the German capital, talks were held with members of the Bundestag, political parties and representatives of the German Federal Foreign Office Division for Ukraine, Moldova & Black Sea cooperation. At the same time, Moldovan experts participated, together with researchers and think-tankers, at a policy session co-hosted by German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, entitled “Moldova deserves and needs Germany’s support for its European path”.

During the advocacy visit, the discussions focused on the importance and stake of EU candidate status for Moldova and dynamics of Moldova’s EU accession process. A key focus was paid to the progress and constraints of the Republic of Moldova in the EU accession process.

The advocacy visit was organized by IPRE and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Moldova. The advocacy visit was also organized as part of the project “Policy bridges with the EU: Securing the Europeanisation process of Moldova” implemented with the support of the Soros Foundation-Moldova.
