Resetting the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the USA to secure the transformation of the Republic of Moldova

The Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) organized, on Thursday, December 3, 2020, a video conference on the topic: “Strengthening the Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the United States in the Post-Electoral Context”.

During the discussion, which took place in the form of an policy dialogue, Nicu Popescu, director of the Wider Europe Program at the European Council on Foreign Affairs (ECFR, Paris) and Cristina Gherasimov, researcher at the Robert Bosch Center for Central and European East, Russia and Central Asia (DGAP, Berlin) proposed a series of key recommendations on short-term priorities for re-setting the Moldovan-American partnership following the US and Moldovan presidential elections. The event also discussed opportunities to synchronize the objectives of bilateral, regional and international partnerships to capitalize on the potential of transatlantic cooperation in order to secure the process of transformation, Europeanization of the Republic of Moldova.

The event was attended by national and international experts and researchers, who contributed with additional proposals related to the topics addressed. The results of the discussions will be summarized in an IPRE Policy Brief that will be published during December.

The videoconference organized in the format of the policy dialogue is part of a series of activities conducted by IPRE in partnership with other research centers carried out within the Project “Policy Bridges with the EU: Securing the Europeanization process of the Republic of Moldova”, implemented with the financial support of Soros Foundation Moldova.
